GenX and other contaminants continue to be an issue for residents and guests. The Town of Holden Beach provides water to our island. The Town purchases the treated water wholesale from Brunswick County. The County has two main water treatment plants, the Northwest Water Treatment Plant which takes GenX contaminated surface water from the Cape Fear River and the 211 Water treatment plant which uses well water. The Town of Holden Beach receives the contaminated water from the Northwest Water Treatment Plant.
