Central Reach Headed West

The Central Reach beach renourishment project continues to make excellent progress down the strand.  The eastern leg is complete (down to 240 OBE) and now the western leg is beginning.   These photos were taken Friday, January 13, 2017.

This photo shows the current project area. The pipe comes from the transfer station 5000 feet offshore. Sand is pumped in a slurry through the pipe which now makes a turn and goes west. The pipe splits into two sections for different areas of the beach. Bulldozers are used to smooth and place the sand.

This shot is from the Lockwood Folly Inlet looking west. The nourishment project can be seen in the background.

This shows the easternmost end of the project and where it tapers off. Note the people in the foreground for perspective.
